When the difference changes
EST is 4 or 5 hours behind GMT — in 2026:
- Until 8 March: 5 hours behind
- From 8 March to 1 November: 4 hours behind
- From 1 November: 5 hours behind
The gap moves because the two places change their clocks on different dates, or only one of them changes at all.
